1. Where should this pad sit in relation to water flow and my other media?

This is a fine mechanical (polishing) pad. Within the mechanical stage, place it after your coarse/medium sponge so larger debris is caught first, and keep it before your biological ceramic rings or balls. Water route: coarse sponge → this fine pad → bio-media.

2. How often should I rinse or replace the pad?

Rinse it in removed aquarium water during regular maintenance to restore flow. Because the fine fibers trap micro-sludge, replace the pad once it stays permanently compacted or water begins to bypass the edges (typically every 1–2 weeks depending on bioload).

3. How do I cut such a large sheet to size?

It arrives folded (35 × 25 cm pack) and unfolds to 120 × 30 cm. Use a media basket or an old pad as a template and cut slightly oversized (~5 mm) with household scissors. Cut only what you need — one sheet yields up to 12 pads at 30 × 10 cm — and keep the unused portion dry and sealed for future changes.

4. Can I use it alongside biological ceramic rings or balls?

Yes — this is the recommended setup. The pad traps fine suspended solids before they can coat the micro-pores of your biological media, helping keep the beneficial-bacteria colony clean and well oxygenated.

5. Should I remove it when treating my tank with medication?

Made from hot-pressed polyester with no added glues, bleaches, or dyes, and containing no activated carbon or chemical resins, it generally does not remove common liquid medications the way carbon does. If your medication's instructions advise removing filter media, or you are using a dye-based treatment, remove the pad during treatment to be safe, then fit a fresh one after the full treatment course.
